Nothing Compares 2 U / Jump in the River

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Transforming an obscure funk track originally penned by Prince into a stark, emotionally devastating ballad, this recording cemented the artist's international superstardom. The arrangement strips back nearly all instrumentation, leaving O'Connor's incredibly raw, powerful vocal performance entirely exposed. Accompanied by a profoundly intimate music video consisting mostly of a single, tearful facial close-up, it remains one of the most universally recognized breakup songs in modern pop history.
