Everything Is Embarrassing

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Co-written and produced by Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid, this track perfectly encapsulates the vulnerability and listlessness of young adulthood. Built over a stripped-back, retro 1980s freestyle drum machine groove and melancholic piano chords, the vocal delivery is purposely muted and emotionally exhausted. The song achieved significant critical acclaim, successfully pivoting the artist away from forced commercial pop toward a highly influential indie-pop aesthetic.
