Album Notes & Community Reviews
A radical electronic reimagining of an obscure 1964 Northern Soul track by Gloria Jones, this single paired 'Tainted Love' with a medley cover of The Supremes. The duo replaced organic instrumentation with stark drum machines and sinister synthesizers, emphasizing the darker, sleazier undertones of the lyrics. It became a global smash, defining the British synthpop invasion of the early 1980s.
