Cranes in the Sky

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally written nearly a decade prior over a beat by Raphael Saadiq, this track was fully realized as a delicate, sweeping neo-soul masterpiece. The song's arrangement features gorgeous, swooping string sections and a restrained, incredibly nimble vocal performance detailing the exhausting attempts to escape depression through material and physical distractions. It earned massive critical acclaim and secured the artist a Grammy for Best R&B Performance.
