Opening 'Daydream Nation' with a hazy, spoken-word intro by Kim Gordon before exploding into a driving alternative rock anthem, 'Teenage Riot' represented Sonic Youth's most accessible track to date. The lyrics imagine an alternate reality wherein Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis is appointed President of the United States. Its shimmering, alternate-tuned guitars helped bridge the gap between New York noise-art and the impending 1990s grunge movement.
