Album Notes & Community Reviews

Concealing themes of emotional vulnerability behind a brisk, upbeat pop arrangement, this single helped transition The Cure away from the stark minimalism of their debut LP. Robert Smith's lyrics challenge masculine stoicism, a recurring thematic thread that resonated deeply with early alternative audiences. It remains one of the most enduring jangle-pop singles of the early new wave era.
