Album Notes & Community Reviews

Adapting a 19th-century North Carolina murder ballad into an upbeat, cleanly harmonized pop format. The track became a massive, multi-platinum phenomenon that essentially single-handedly ignited the mainstream commercial folk revival of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
