Album Notes & Community Reviews

Bridging Bristol's reggae sound-system culture with angular avant-garde rock, this debut single aggressively challenged the rigidity of traditional punk. Produced by Dennis Bovell, the track incorporates cavernous dub basslines, screeching free-jazz guitar fragments, and Mark Stewart's frenzied, politically charged screaming. The lyrics uniquely blend existential romance with concepts drawn from philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
