Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now / Suffer Little Children

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Titled as a sly reference to Sandie Shaw's 'Always Something There to Remind Me', this single pairs Johnny Marr's dazzling, intricate major-seventh guitar picking with Morrissey's lament on unemployment and romantic dissatisfaction. The release generated significant controversy in the British tabloids due to the B-side, 'Suffer Little Children', which explicitly detailed the tragic Moors murders. The single solidified the band's reputation as provocative, literary indie darlings.
