Human Sadness

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Spanning eleven minutes, this chaotic, deeply ambitious track signaled Julian Casablancas's total departure from the tight garage-rock of his primary band. Utilizing a sample from Mozart's Requiem, the song shifts wildly through layers of crushing noise, autotuned falsettos, and blistering guitar solos. It is a profoundly dense, grief-stricken meditation on depression that polarized critics but earned massive cult admiration.
