Album Notes & Community Reviews
Tracy Chapman's fifth album, produced by Tchad Blake, roughens her folk rock with looped textures and denser band arrangements. The title track and 'Speak the Word' frame a set of narrative songs on faith, desire and social observation, sung in her characteristic low contralto.
