Album Notes & Community Reviews

Gary Numan crafted this dystopian, Philip K. Dick-inspired narrative about robotic companionship and urban isolation. Replacing traditional punk guitars with the icy, booming textures of the Polymoog synthesizer, the track unexpectedly topped the UK charts. Its massive commercial success essentially heralded the commercial breakthrough of the 1980s synth-pop explosion.
