Lyrics for Brief Encounter
As we reached the station The train was standing by I tried so hard to keep myself From looking in your eye And as I glanced away and saw the case I felt the tears come rolling down my face Looking through the window I heard the whistle blow I needed no reminding it was time for you to go But standing there beside the railway track I told myself that you'd be coming back My haunting memory serves me very well No need to spell it out as if you couldn't tell I briefly thought of us, a moment to retain Too good a memory to never live again So near but so far away Start your journey today Take a ticket for a fast train Meet me down the line Take a ticket for a fast train Don't waste any time Don't waste no time I've waited patiently to see you once again Each letter that I write the message is the same So near but so far away Leave now, please don't delay Take a ticket for a fast train Meet me down the line Take a ticket for a fast train Don't waste any time Take a ticket for a fast train Meet me down the line Take a ticket for a fast train Don't waste no time Take a ticket for a fast train Don't waste no time Take a ticket for a fast train Meet me down the line
