Lyrics for I'm Ready - Track Commentary
Ooh wee Woah-oh, oh, oh Are you ready? Ooh wee Woah-oh, oh, oh So, I'm Ready is definitely the, uh, the silliest song Uh, that we've written Uh, not in a bad way at all! I think it's pretty cool Uh, the first little aspect is definitely the SpongeBob sample That's the, you know, that's the thing that people go to I guess, when they're thinking about the song Uh, for anyone that does not know how that came about, I came to Ryan With the idea of that, like, EDM artist, like David Guetta, or [?] sample SpongeBob right before the drop It's like, "I'm ready, I'm ready, pssh!" and then going to the drop Wawawawawa Exactly, yeah Yeah That was a good little dubstep "wawawa." Yep, nice And, uh, Ryan said "No, that's a very cool idea, but we will do it instead of them." And that was definitely the first step in writing the song I remember the idea to, uh, use the doo-wop came from I was at Colombia, I was, like, going to some party And I remember a guy came out of, like, some frat party Singing that part of, uh, Turn Up The Music by Chris Brown It was like, "Oh, woah-oh, oh, ha!" Um, and I remember thinking, like, "That's so cool! Falsetto is, like, such a cool, old-timey thing to put back into A pop song." Um, other than that, um, of course, we're such fans of, like Frankie Vali, Beach Boys, uh Those kind of 50s and 60s music that used kind of a Feminine high-range and, like, girls went crazy over it So I've always been kind of, uh, fascinated with it I'm Ready at its core is a party song Right But it's, like, a weird party song 'Cause there's so many different elements in it There's that clapping, kind of chorus part There's also the SpongeBob There's that big "ooh-wee" chorus that you were just talking about Um, there's also dubstep. Exactly, exactly So, it's a party song but it's weird I think it worked really well as our first single Because it just showed people what we're about We're about, uh, taking risks and surprising people Pushing up a level Pushing up a level. Exactly I think it served us well, introducing us to the public
