Lyrics for Who Removed The Cellar Door?

Just this morning, it was gone It was gone for a song Taken away to the fringe They carried it away unhinged Nothing else seemed to have moved The weedwhacker I would have approved That object hasn’t run in over a year And thus the weeds are here I walked the perimeter for clues Mile after mile passed under my shoes I walked until my head was sore Who removed the cellar door? The cellar door And there I was, Niagara Falls Looking down the liquid walls I was not alone, you were there With your hair whipping in the air It was you who brought me to see The mounds of Mississippi And the lumps of Tennessee Border control on both sides of the pond Asked our destination, I couldn’t respond Every boundary disappeared But I was without a fear The lines in the road were there no more Who removed the cellar door? The cellar door That was quite a lot for one morning And about midday it started pouring You went to town for some wood But I knew you were gone for good The cellar then began to flood Until the whole house was taken by mud It slid away, over the edge And to the mud I made a pledge Heavy winds began to blow And it was time for me to go Thunder cracked and heavens roared Who removed the cellar door? The cellar door What use was it to them? Or were they coerced by some patrician? It’s against all logic but what do I know The rain has stopped, just let it go Now the mud has all dried And I’m down by the roadside Looking for a well-dressed man Carrying a cane in his hand Maybe he can help me retrieve Before I take my leave To that most distant shore Who removed the cellar door? The cellar door
