Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded in New York City alongside a large ensemble of stellar avant-garde musicians, this ambitious session captures the South African pianist at the height of his compositional powers. 'The Journey' masterfully blends chaotic, spiritual free improvisation with the buoyant, rhythmic melodies of Cape Town's marabi tradition.
