Dirk Wears White Sox
by Adam and the Ants
Before achieving massive mainstream success with their reinvented tribal-pop sound, the original incarnation of the English group debuted with a remarkably strange and jagged post-punk vision. The record pairs angular guitar work with esoteric, fetish-obsessed lyricism reflecting art-school provocations. Shortly after its release, manager Malcolm McLaren controversially convinced the backing band to abandon frontman Adam Ant in order to form Bow Wow Wow.
