Album Notes & Community Reviews

In one of the most controversial pivots in jazz history, the fiercely uncompromising avant-garde saxophonist drastically altered his sound to incorporate heavy R&B grooves and sung vocals. Despite the commercial backing of a soul rhythm section and vocal choirs, Ayler's distinctively wild, overblown saxophone tone remains a chaotic force throughout the recording.
