Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released posthumously, this poignant session finds the free jazz pioneer exploring deep, gospel-rooted spirituals with an unusual degree of melodic restraint. The emotionally charged performances strip back some of his characteristic dissonance, revealing a profoundly soulful, introspective yearning. It stands out in his late-period discography as a solemn tribute to his foundational musical influences.
