Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally composed in the early 1970s, this recording captures Schnittke's monumental, fiercely controversial entry into polystylism. The chaotic symphony wildly juxtaposes classical avant-garde techniques with jazz improvisation, brass bands, and theatrical interruptions, serving as a radical deconstruction of the symphonic form.
