Album Notes & Community Reviews

Alvin Lucier's landmark 1981 recording of his 1969 conceptual piece beautifully demonstrates the acoustic properties of physical space through relentless tape looping. By repeatedly recording and playing back his own spoken monologue until the resonant frequencies of the room completely obliterate his voice into a shimmering drone, he creates a deeply hypnotic, surreal masterpiece of avant-garde minimalism.
