Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Blue Rev', Alvvays amplifies its established indie-pop sound with a significant shoegaze influence, resulting in a dense and dynamic sonic palette defined by layered, distorted guitars and Molly Rankin's ethereal vocals. The album's creation with producer Shawn Everett involved spontaneous, full-album takes recorded live to tape, capturing an immediate and raw energy. Rankin's songwriting remains a focal point, merging sharp melodic hooks with literate, often melancholic lyrics that explore post-collegiate restlessness and romantic anxieties, culminating in a work that earned widespread critical acclaim and a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year.
