Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Songs of the Auvergne' pairs selections from Canteloube's Auvergnat song arrangements with Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 and Rachmaninoff's Vocalise. Leopold Stokowski conducts the American Symphony Orchestra, the ensemble he had founded two years earlier, and the Auvergne songs are sung in the dialect Canteloube collected in the region's villages.
