Album Notes & Community Reviews

Utilizing Gerry Mulligan's famous pianoless quartet format, the extraordinarily agile vocalist is afforded immense rhythmic and harmonic freedom for this highly celebrated studio date. 'Sings a Song With Mulligan' seamlessly integrates her hip, incredibly sharp phrasing into the ensemble's famously airy, deeply contrapuntal West Coast aesthetic. The exceptionally joyful, deeply swinging collaboration remains a definitive high-water mark for sophisticated, mid-century jazz vocalization.
