Album Notes & Community Reviews

Acting as a revolutionary moment in Portuguese popular culture, this dazzling debut introduced the nation to an openly queer, profoundly idiosyncratic avant-pop visionary. 'Anjo da guarda' masterfully fuses modern, cosmopolitan synthesizer programming with the deep, melancholic vocal traditions of Fado and regional folk music. Released only a year before his tragic passing, the album remains an incredibly beloved, foundational masterpiece of modern Lusophone music.
