No ritmo da Terra cover art

On 'No ritmo da Terra', the São Paulo-based project Antropoceno, led by artist Lua Viana, fuses Brazilian musical traditions with avant-garde metal, post-rock, and glitchy electronic textures. The album serves as a sonic interpretation of decolonial philosophies, using a tapestry of afoxé, samba, and capoeira rhythms against a backdrop of environmental recordings from the Amazon rainforest to explore themes of climate change and ancestral memory. This work expands upon the experimental sound of its predecessor, 'Natureza Morta', by reconfiguring traditional percussion instruments like the atabaque and berimbau through electronic manipulation, creating a dense, ritualistic interrogation of what constitutes modern Brazilian music.
