As the first entry in a five-album cycle, 'KiCk i' marks Arca's shift from ambient soundscapes to a more volatile and accessible form of deconstructed club and avant-pop music. The production melds IDM, experimental pop, and fractured reggaeton rhythms, creating a backdrop for collaborators including Björk, Rosalía, and SOPHIE. Thematically, the album explores fluid notions of identity, informed by Arca's experience as a non-binary trans woman, and utilizes a blend of Spanish and English lyrics that range from operatic passages to direct rap verses, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
