Album Notes & Community Reviews
Radically departing from the stadium-ready guitar riffs of their previous blockbuster record, the Sheffield quartet embraced a lush, lounge-pop aesthetic driven almost entirely by vintage keyboards. Alex Turner crafted a dense, satirical concept album set in a luxury resort on the moon, dissecting modern technology, consumerism, and fame. The highly polarizing pivot showcased the band's willingness to abandon commercial expectations for ambitious artistic reinvention.
