Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Jazz Messengers' debut for Riverside Records finds the legendary sextet firing on all cylinders with Wayne Shorter and Freddie Hubbard on the front line. The album's explosive, intensely polyrhythmic interpretation of the Juan Tizol title track became a definitive showpiece for Art Blakey's thunderous drum solos.
