Album Notes & Community Reviews

Dedicating an entire session to intense, highly complex percussion explorations, the powerhouse drummer convenes a massive ensemble of Afro-Cuban and jazz rhythm specialists, including Philly Joe Jones and Sabu Martinez. Driven heavily by deeply layered congas, timbales, and chanted vocals, the explosive jams largely eschew traditional melodic structures in favor of raw, polyrhythmic intensity. The project highlights the profound, inextricable links between modern American hard bop and traditional African percussive traditions.
