Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stepping out briefly from his legendary tenure fronting Love, the enigmatic songwriter released a gritty, hard-rocking solo debut. Backed by a new group of musicians including guitarist Craig Tarwater, the album eschews the lush orchestral psychedelia of his past in favor of biting, straightforward guitar rock and cynical, boastful lyricism. Despite strong songwriting, the record suffered from poor promotion and remains an underappreciated gem in his catalog.
