Album Notes & Community Reviews

Piazzolla's tango operita sets Horacio Ferrer's libretto of a Buenos Aires prostitute who dies and returns as a shadow, with Amelita Baltar creating the title role and Ferrer himself narrating as El Duende. The original double LP preserves the premiere cast at the Sala Planeta and the Quinteto Nuevo Tango at the point where concert tango absorbed song, theatre and street slang.
