Album Notes & Community Reviews
This debut solo effort solidified Astrud Gilberto's status as a leading voice of the bossa nova movement following her breakout success with "The Girl from Ipanema". The album pairs her sweet, understated vocal delivery with the foundational guitar work and compositions of Antônio Carlos Jobim. Marty Paich’s lush string and flute arrangements frame the authentic Brazilian rhythms for an American easy-listening sensibility, creating a sound that is both intimate and radiantly produced.
