Album Notes & Community Reviews

Capitalizing on his legendary, scene-stealing guest verse on Nas's 'Illmatic', the Brooklyn MC delivered a highly sophisticated, impeccably crafted debut. His remarkably smooth, incredibly fast multi-syllabic flow navigates dense, highly literate narratives of organized crime, street survival, and profound urban philosophy. The pristine, jazz-inflected boom-bap production cemented the record as an absolute essential classic of mid-90s New York hip-hop.
