Originally recorded in 1984 but receiving wide international release at the end of the decade, 'Djam Leelii' is a masterwork of acoustic Senegalese music. Baaba Maal and blind guitarist Mansour Seck weave mesmerizing, interlocking guitar lines beneath impassioned, soaring vocal performances. The incredibly intimate and soulful recording brought the rich traditions of Fula music to global prominence.
