Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded in New York and produced by Mountain's Felix Pappalardi, the second album from this highly unusual British trio strips jazz fusion down to a remarkably sparse, aggressive core. Foregoing standard guitar or keyboard instrumentation entirely, the band relies completely on Colin Hodgkinson's incredibly intricate bass playing and Ron Aspery's frantic saxophones to carry complex, blues-drenched melodies. The resulting sound is a raw, highly technical, and completely unique approach to early 70s jazz-rock.
