Long before their evolution into a polished, internationally dominant blackened death metal force, the Polish band's debut was a deeply atmospheric, remarkably raw pagan black metal record. Nergal's primitive, lo-fi recording aesthetic is heavily saturated with acoustic guitar interludes and prominent synthesizer melodies celebrating ancient Slavic mythology. The profoundly cold, forest-worshipping release remains a fascinating historical document of their earliest, most uncompromising underground era.
