Album Notes & Community Reviews

Folds returns to the piano-bass-drums power trio format of his early career, though the songwriting eschews youthful snark for mature, reflective melancholy. The sophisticated pop-rock arrangements feature guest vocals by 'Weird Al' Yankovic and deal heavily with themes of aging, divorce, and personal loss, most notably in a tribute to Elliott Smith.
