Marking the first full-length collaboration between Guatemalan cellist and vocalist Mabe Fratti and American experimental guitarist Bill Orcutt, 'Almost Waking' was recorded at Tinho Studios in Mexico City and in San Francisco. The album is a warmly exploratory set of chamber folk, blending raw electric guitar improvisations and shards of melody with expressive, multi-layered cello and vocals. The resulting compositions seamlessly bridge avant-garde experimentation with off-kilter, on铆ric song forms.
