Album Notes & Community Reviews
Expanding slightly upon the raw, solo electric guitar format of his debut, Bragg incorporated subtle trumpet, organ, and vocal overdubs on his sophomore effort. The songwriting fiercely juxtaposes working-class political anthems detailing the harsh realities of Thatcherism with tender, unvarnished romantic ballads. It cemented his reputation as the quintessential urban folk poet of the UK punk generation.
