Originally intended as a Tony Iommi solo album, 'Seventh Star' noticeably shifts away from Sabbath's traditional doom origins toward a slicker, highly melodic blues-rock and hard rock sound. Featuring Glenn Hughes on vocals, the record boasts deeply passionate, soulful performances and highly polished 80s production. It is an energetic, somewhat polarizing, but remarkably melodic anomaly in the band's vast catalog.
