Album Notes & Community Reviews
Formed in Boston by Juliana Hatfield and John Strohm, the Blake Babies' debut full-length is a remarkably charming slice of college-rock jangle pop. The record balances Strohm鈥檚 slightly abrasive, punk-inflected guitar work with Hatfield鈥檚 distinctive, sweet-and-sour vocal delivery. It serves as a crucial, melodic precursor to the massive 1990s alternative rock explosion.
