Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stefan Grossman, who had studied guitar with Davis as a teenager, recorded his teacher informally between 1962 and 1967 at the reverend's Bronx home and at his storefront church. This three-disc set gathers forty-nine of those performances, the most intimate portrait of Davis's gospel blues playing ever issued.
