Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured in the UK, 'Pure Religion and Bad Company' highlights the intricate fingerpicking style that made Reverend Gary Davis a massive influence on the folk revival. It juxtaposes deeply religious gospel tracks with secular ragtime and blues, accurately reflecting his repertoire. His complex syncopation and gruff, emotive delivery are preserved with stark intimacy.
