Album Notes & Community Reviews

Reuniting almost a decade after their first collaborative project, the Detroit emcee and legendary producer craft an immaculate piece of underground noir. The Alchemist provides a masterclass in dusty, minimalist loop-making, setting an ominous, cinematic stage for Boldy's remarkably cold, apathetic recounting of drug trafficking and street survival. It was instrumental in establishing Boldy James as one of the premier lyricists of his generation.
