Formed as a side-project by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard alongside vocalist Shawn Smith, the Seattle group's debut offers a remarkably soulful, piano-driven counterpoint to the era's heavy grunge sound. The loose, jam-oriented sessions heavily incorporate funk and classic R&B influences, anchored by Smith's stunning falsetto.
