Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a commercial breakthrough for the keyboardist's primary ensemble, this record successfully synthesizes relentless, syncopated funk grooves with complex jazz phrasing. The rhythm section's incredibly tight interplay provides a kinetic foundation for Auger's virtuosic Hammond B3 and electric piano explorations. Often cited as a critical text in the development of acid jazz, the album crossed over onto both rock and R&B charts, a testament to its irrepressible, cross-cultural energy.
