Album Notes & Community Reviews

Considered a landmark electronic album, 'Untrue' merges the syncopated, off-kilter rhythms of UK garage and dubstep with a tangible sense of urban melancholy. Burial constructed its influential sound by manipulating and pitch-shifting R&B vocal samples, layering them with ambient textures, vinyl crackle, and field recordings to create a spectral, emotionally resonant soundscape. The work's production techniques and its thematic exploration of lonely, rain-swept city life have established it as a pivotal and widely imitated record.
