Album Notes & Community Reviews

Self-produced on a shoestring budget, CAKE's debut album introduced their highly idiosyncratic, stripped-down alternative rock sound. John McCrea's deadpan, spoken-word vocal delivery meshes brilliantly with prominent trumpet flourishes and funky, staccato guitar lines, birthing an exceptionally quirky college-rock hit with the single 'Rock 'n' Roll Lifestyle'.
