On their second album 'Mirage', Camel solidified their signature symphonic sound, characterized by intricate instrumental passages and a blend of rock, jazz, and melodic subtlety. The album showcases the dynamic interplay between Andrew Latimer’s lyrical guitar and flute and Peter Bardens' array of keyboards, creating a fluid, atmospheric texture. It is structured around extended, multi-part suites such as the climactic 'Lady Fantasy' and the 'Lord of the Rings' inspired 'Nimrodel/The Procession/The White Rider', which established the band's capacity for elaborate musical storytelling.
